Meet the Team

Alex's Saints Foundation is a volunteer-driven nonprofit, allowing a majority of donations to go back into the community.

  • Tyler Bettelon

    FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN

In May 2020, Tyler Bettelon established Alex's Saints Foundation in honor of his best friend, Alex, who passed away one day before his 25th birthday. Their friendship began in middle school, and since the tragic loss of Alex, Tyler has been driven to make a positive impact to support families facing the challenges of loved ones with addiction. Beyond providing financial aid, Tyler is dedicated to raising awareness about the ongoing opioid crisis within the community.

  • Hannah Callis

    VICE CHAIRMAN

Hannah and Alex's friendship began in middle school as they casually joked their way through anything life threw at them. Hannah and Alex did everything together, she was always considered "one of the boys". This friendship lasted for the years to come. After Alex's passing, Hannah has developed a passion to support and contribute to making a difference for those struggling with addiction and help facilitate recovery in honor of his memory.

  • Brett Schmitz

    TREASURER

Brett's friendship with Alex started in middle school, where they shared classes and a love for sports. To this day, Brett still remembers all of the smiles and laughs Alex brought to all of his friends. With Brett’s financial experience, he is excited to help Alex’s Saints Foundation grow into something that Alex would be proud of.

  • Paul Hartzell

    SECRETARY

Paul's connection with Alex dates back to the early 2000s when Alex formed a deep friendship with his son, Ian. They shared numerous days at Paul's home, school functions, or cheering on Ian and Alex at sporting events. Some of Paul's cherished memories of Alex were created during these moments, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air..

  • Jack Benson

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

Jack's connection to Alex comes tied together from many different ropes. Jack and Alex were closely connected, working together as valets during afternoons and nights. Their evenings were often spent either in the cul-de-sac of Dina Dr or attending shows together. Since the passing of Alex, Jack has made it a goal be able to assist those in need who are fighting the opioid epidemic.

  • Jeff Bettelon

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

Jeff’s relationship with Alex began in the early 2000’s when Alex became best friends with his son, Tyler. They experienced countless days at either Jeff’s home, a school function or a sporting event where Tyler and Alex were participating. Some of Jeff’s favorite memories of Alex would come from times that were spent at their northern Michigan cottage.

  • Michael Bordas Gala 2021

    Michael Bordas

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

Michael’s friendship with Alex began in middle school via baseball and a shared love for music and video games. Their friendship later blossomed in early college years while pushing each other to new levels of physical fitness. Alex was a motivating figure in his life with constant competition and today Michael would like to bring the same motivation Alex carried, to those struggling with drug addiction.

  • Eric Hunt

    LEGAL DIRECTOR

Being the step-father of Alex, Eric was honored to serve on the Board for the foundation. He and Alex’s mom, Sue St. Pierre, were both devastated by the sudden loss of Alex. They think and talk about him each day to keep his love and presence active in their lives. Eric and Sue along with the entire family provided love and support to Alex throughout his struggles with addiction. They look forward to the day when this disease is treated seriously by our society and help is available for all persons afflicted with addiction.

  • John St. Pierre

    ESSENCE DIRECTOR

As Alex’s dad, John shared many great times with him throughout the years. Through all of Alex’s successes and challenges, John was there to provide his love and support. Many great memories put a smile on his face and, strangely enough, even some of those not so good memories have a way of doing the same. When Tyler approached John with the idea of starting a foundation , he knew instantly that it was something that he not only wanted to be a part of, but needed to be. John’s hope is not only to keep Alex’s memory alive, but more importantly, to support kids like Alex.

  • John Pitcher

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

John accompanied Alex and family to sports events grown up, most notable to the University of Michigan football games. As Alex aged, John was always there with a supportive outlook and a big hug. John is excited to join the team and be a part of a foundation to honor his nephew's memory and help others in a similar situation.

  • Mike Peterson

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

Mike and his wife, Cathy, have been close friends with John and Margaret St. Pierre for many years. Mike also had the honor of officiating John and Margaret’s wedding at the Detroit Zoo. Mike’s focus will be raising awareness for the foundation and creating partnerships in the area that will enable us to help as many young people struggling with substance use disorder as possible.

  • Ray Setlock

    OUTREACH DIRECTOR

He is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Alex’s Saints Foundation and all the good work they do to bring a positive impact to the community and those struggling with addiction.
